Rio Grande Basin Roundtable Technical Meeting #2
Meeting Summary

The group discussed the SWSI alternatives development and evaluation process, and
how it might apply to the list of Rio Grande options. BRT members concluded that
the list of Rio Grande options discussed and modified at today's meeting will
comprise the "single" alternative for the basin. The group wishes to proceed with all
the options on the list, rather than considering different combinations of options and
proceeding with a preferred alternative from a list of several alternatives.
. Because the group does not need to spend time developing and comparing alternatives
(which was to be one of the main topics of BRT Meeting #3), the group decided to combine
BRT meetings 3 and 4, to be held in the July-August 2004 timeframe. The SWSI team will
e-mail additional project information to Rio Grande BRT members (e.g., revised demands,
supply estimates, etc.) between meetings as the information becomes available.

Supply Methodology

Kelly DiNatale presented a brief overview of the methodology to be employed in SWSI for
estimating water supplies. The preliminary results of these analyses will be presented at the
next BRT meeting.

Preparation for Basin Roundtable Meeting #3

. BRT members were reminded of the following deadlines:
- Completed objectives weighting forms due back by February 25, 2004 (two weeks).
- Additional input on preliminary options list due by February 25, 2004 (two weeks).
- Comments on preliminary demand results due by February 25, 2004 (two weeks).
. The next Rio Grande BRT meeting will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2004 from 2 to 8 p.m.
in Alamosa.
. Rick Brown reminded BRT members that they are invited and encouraged to attend other
basins' BRTs as those meetings may be of interest to Rio Grande representatives where there
are inter-basin issues.

Public Comments

. All public attendees at the BRT meeting were offered an opportunity to comment or ask
questions of the SWSI team and BRT members as part of the evening session of the BRT
meeting. Only one public attendee provided a comment, noting that it is important for the
SWSI team and water planners to consider water needs beyond the 30-year timeframe
covered by SWSI.

CDIVI

7

Rio Grande BRT Mtg #2 Summary.doc 4/16/2004
