Federal Emergency Management Agency
Washington, D.C. 20472

OCT 1 7 1997

The Honorable Jan C. Schenck
Mayor, City of Golden
911 Tenth Street
Golden, Colorado 80401

IN REPLY REFER TO CASE NO. 97-08-412A
Follows Case No. 97-08-0l7C
Community: City of Golden, Colorado
Community No.: 080090
Map Panel Affected: 0003 A
Map Effective Date: May 15, 1985
2l8-65-NS

Dear Mayor Schenck:

We reviewed a request dated September 11, 1997, from for a
Letter of Map Revision. All required information for this request, including the required review and processing
fee, was received on September 18, 1997. Using the information submitted and the effective National Flood
Insurance Program (NFIP) map, we determined the structure on the property described below is in a Special Flood
Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the flood having a I-percent chance of being equaled
or exceeded in any given year (base flood). The structure, as shown on the effective NFIP map, remains in the
SFHA designated Zone A2. This property was elevated by the placement of fill after the date of the earliest NFIP
map showing the area in the SFHA.

Property Description: Lots 19 through 24, Block 17, Welch Addition, as shown on the Plat recorded in
Book 1, Page 8, in the Office of the Recorder, Jefferson County, Colorado

Flooding Source:

East Fork Kenneys Run

The elevations of both the lowest adjacent grade to a structure (the lowest ground touching the structure) and the
lowest floor (including basement/crawl space) must be at or above the base flood elevation (BFE) for the structure
to be outside the SFHA. Because the elevation of the lowest adjacent grade to the structure, 5,720.3 feet, is lower
than the BFE, 5,722.6 feet, the structure is within the SFHA; therefore, flood insurance is required. These
elevations are referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.

This determination is based on the flood data presently available, Should you wish to resubmit this request, the
NFIP regulations provide a period of 90 days from the date of this letter for resubmission of revised data without
repayment of review and processing fee. Data submitted after 90 days will be subject to all submittal/payment
procedures.

The enclosed document provides additional information about your options for obtaining a Letter of Map Revision.
If you have any questions about this letter, please contact Ms. Agnes De Coca of our staff in Washington, DC,
either by telephone at (202) 646-2746 or by facsimile at (202) 646-4596.

Sincerely,

~.~.~ ~-}~

(\-- Frederick H. Sharrocks, Jf., Chief
Hazard Identification Branch
Mitigation Directorate

Enclosure

cc:
