During <br />those severe drought conditions, the sharply reduced productivity of the available water rights <br />portfolio was supplemented by drought response programs that reduced demands, short-term <br />leases of agricultural water and other water sources and deliveries from reservoir releases. <br /> <br />These recent drought conditions are, however, not as severe as those seen along the Front Range <br />during the 1954-56 drought and that period is used by Aurora Water as well as other major <br />municipal water providers in the areas to assess the firm yield of their water systems. Under <br />those 1950s water supply conditions and with the current water rights portfolio, it is possible for <br />the City to deliver an average annual supply of 53,000 acre-feet per year of water to its <br />customers. This yield can be sustained for a three year period but does draw the reservoirs below <br /> <br />3 <br />
