Chatfield Reservoir Reallocation Project
Coalition Coordination Meeting
1:30 pm, December 4,2007 -1580 Logan St, Denver (CFWE)

Meeting Summary

1) Introductions
a) Nicole Seltzer was introduced to the group as the new Executive Director ofthe Colorado Foundation for
Water Education. She was congratulated on the new position and thanked for the use of their conference
room.
b) Self introductions were conducted around the room
c) See attached sign in sheet for attendance

2) Announcements
a) Staff from the Omaha Corps, including Eric Laux, Dave Brandon, and Kayla Eckert-Uptmor, are visiting
Colorado this week to look at various Corps projects within their District. The team visited Chatfield
Reservoir on the afternoon of 12/3 to allow the new Planning Chief (Kayla) a first hand look at the Project.
This was interpreted as a positive step, and an indication of strong Corps interest.
b) CWCB Activities related to Chatfield include:
i) A change order has been processed in the amount of$130,000 (WSRA funds) that is now in the hands of
the Corps. The money will be transferred for project use in the near future.
ii) The CWCB is working on a scope of work and a Purchase Order (to Centennial) that will serve as a
mechanism to hire Leonard Rice to prepare management documents for the Project. Katie Fendel is
taking the lead for Leonard Rice, and Kirk Russell is the PM for the CWCB. The effort will be paid for
100% by CWCB, and the products will include a "project planning document for decision makers", a
"loan feasibility study document - project components common to all", and a "detailed timeline with
notes for internal use". The documents are generally aimed at supporting a unified marketing effort for
project goals and needs, and will assist Water Users who may be interested in CWCB loans for the
Project. A draft scope was circulated at the meeting for review, and the final scope will be made
available by request.
iii) The CWCB (Board) at its November 2007 meeting in Golden recognized the need for State legislation
related to Chatfield and informally asked staffto work with the Water Users to bring specific language
back to the January 2008 meeting. No formal action was taken at the November meeting.
iv) DNR Executive Director, Harris Sherman, has appointed 4 new directors for SEO, CWCB, Parks, and
DOW.
v) A Project support letter, signed by all 15 Water Users, was sent to Kayla at the Omaha Corps.
