Examples of these efforts include
Phase III ofUPCO, the Eagle River Assembly, and the cooperative agreements being
developed by the Recovery Implementation Program for Endangered Fish Species in the
Upper Colorado River Basin,

Information Sources

There are a variety of information sources that should be reviewed and considered in the
assessment of environmental and recreational water needs in Colorado. In order to assist
the SWSI team in the development of environmental and recreational water needs, we
have compiled a list of information and data sources that are readily available to the
SWSI study team~ The list is shown below:

1, The complete data base of CWCB instream flow and natural lake level water rights is
available on the web at the following URL: http://cwcb~state~co.usJisflI?atabase/

2, The Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) mailltains files on site-specific
investigations conduct~d for development of reconnnendations to the CWCB for
instream flow and lake level appropriations. In many cases, the instream flow
appropriations made by the CWCB are less than the biological based water needs
identified by CDOW based upon concerns about water availability.

3~ Colorado Water Trust, Documentation of Mapping of Critical Water-Dependant
Natural Systems, Prepared for the Colorado Division of Wildlife, June 30, 2002~ This
document provides 8' detailed listing of data sources.

4, U.S~ Fish and Wildlife Service, Programmatic Biological Opinion for the Bureau of
'Reclamation's Operations and Depletio11S, Other Depletions and Funding and
Implementation of Recovery Program Actions in the Upper Colorado River,
December 1999 ~

s~ U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Recovery Implementation Program, Flow
Recommendations to Benefit Endangered Fishes, in the Colorado and Gunnison
Rivers, Final Report, July 2003.

Trout Ulllimited~~ An,erica 's Leading Coldwater Fisheries Conservation Organization
Colorado Office: 1320 Pearl Street, Suite 320~ Boulder~ CO 80302
PHONE: (303) 440-2937 FAX: (303) 440-7933 EMAIL: rweaver@tu.org ~ John.Gerstle@tu.org
