<br />21 June 2005 <br />Wo'rkingDraft Scope of Work . <br />Chatfield ReaUpcation Study' ' <br />Environmental Restoration Add-on. <br /> <br />. . <br />.. . ... <br />Step 1 ~ Identifying Problems aod Opportunities <br /> <br />. . <br />For this step, the Coms/Sponsor (Colorado Water Conservation Board) . study team will define <br />statements of problems and opportunities that reflect the priorities and preferences of the Federal <br />Government, the non-Federal sprinsors and other groups participating, in 'the study process. Those <br />. restoration opportuoities that are associated with wetlands; riparian and other floodplainalld <br />aquatic systems are most appropriate for Corps involvement Priorities and preferences of the <br />sponsor are believed to be those associated with in-stream flowirriprovemerits downstream of <br />. Chatfield for a distance of approximately 20 stream miles. The sponsor has stated that the in. <br />stream flow needs have been investigated and have been presented in a report entitled South.' <br />Platte River' Corridor Project. In-stream Issues Report. November 14. 1996. A mayoral task force <br />prepare<i the refe~enced report. .. <br /> <br />. , . <br />Up-ta-date priorities and preferences of the Federaland State agencies. the non-Federal sponsors. <br />and otherlUoups interested in participating in the study will be obtained in a special meeting. . <br />The Study Team will schedule the special meeting to insure adequate advance notice and <br />. significant attendance. A tour of the South Platte study reach will be conducted prior to the <br />meeting. for those in need of such a tour. At the meeting the Corps will explain this step of . <br />planning, arid conduct a discussion thereof with the meeting attendees. 'The Corps will also . <br />request scoping/planning aid type letters from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Colorado <br />Division ofWi1dlife~ and any other entity that wants to provide such a letter. Public scoping <br />Ibriefing of this add-on to the Chatfield Reallocation study wiH be accomplished at the annual'. <br />public meeting(s) conducted for the main study. <br /> <br />. . <br />. Obiectives must be clearly <br />defined and provide information on the effect desired (quantified, if possible), the subject of the <br />objective (what will be changed by accomplishing the objective), the Jocation where the expected <br />result will occur, the timing of the effect (when would the effect occur) and the durationofthe <br />effect. <br /> <br />1 <br />
