Addressing the Gap Technical Roundtable Meeting #1
Meeting Summary

objective, mission statement, and the meeting plan. Kelly DiNatale then presented specific gap
areas.

Presentation of Addressing the Gap

SWSI identified that there were gaps in meeting 2030 M&I demands and the gap could widen if
identified projects and processes that M&I providers are planning to implement are not
successful. The locations of these gaps include the Colorado River headwaters, Gunnison basin
headwaters, rural areas in the San Juan/Dolores/San Miguel basin, unincorporated EI Paso
County, and the southern and northeastern Denver Metropolitan Area and southern Weld
County. Agricultural shortages were identified by SWSI in all basins. Environmental and
recreational needs identified in the Prioritize and Quantify Recreation and Environment Needs
TRT will also be examined by this TRT.

Addressing the Gap Including Water Supply Solutions/Alternatives TRT Objectives
The objectives of the Addressing the Gap TRT will examine alternatives for:

. Addressing the M&I gap and uncertainty with the M&I gap and identified projects and
processes
. Existing agricultural shortages
. Environmental enhancements
. Recreational enhancements

Solutions and alternatives will be analyzed and evaluated for both in-basin and trans-basin
concepts.

OutcomesfProducts of Addressing the Gap TRT
The following outcomes/products will be produced as part of the Addressing the Gap TRT:

. Options for alternatives will be organized into thematic alternatives
. Reconnaissance level yields for alternatives examined
. Conceptual level costs for alternatives examined
. Benefits of alternatives examined
. Implementation issues of alternatives examined

The information generated as part of the TRT process will be presented as a recommendation to
the CWCB Board. Individual supply options involving inter-basin components will be
discussed and evaluated during TRT and CWCB Board meetings and serve as input to the
"Interbasin Compact Roundtable" process. There will be a finite number of alternatives
examined and a balance between the number of alternatives and the level of detail in the
analyses will be considered. The product of all of this work will be:

1. Identifying where collaboration between basins and intra-basin parties makes the most sense
2. Identifying where efficiency options can be recommended (ensuring that the existing
systems and projects are used in the best possible)

CDIVI

4

\\Densvr01\swsi\SWSI 2\TRT Meeting - Specific\Addressing Gap\summary\Addressing Gap TRT #1 Summary.doc
