North Platte Basin Roundtable Meeting Minutes 09-25-07 2
Many of the map attributes listed do not apply to our basin.
Discussion ensued about the attributes.
Non-consumptive can be by creels or by area.
Paula Belcher talked about the common technical platform that will address how you
quantify for non-consumptive needs. If this basin is concerned about a certain creels
having anon-consumptive use they would use the tech platform to quantify for species or
use.
Instream flow filings:
Jackson County Water Conservancy District has been historically opposed to instream
flow filings in our basin.
Natural lake level water rights: we have natural lake level filings in the park.
Goldmedal trout lakes in this basin: Delaney buttes- just the north lake (Pete Conovitz
confirmed this).
The North Platte river through northgate is a goldmedal trout stream.
Pete Conovitz said one of the things the S. Platte wanted to lalow is what about other
high quality fisheries that maybe could be designated, based on use. They've asked
CWCB for more information based on that. Maybe we would like to do something along
those lines.
Discussion about 303d sediment list: we have a few listed on the maps--Grizzly creek,
and part of the Michigan river, and the Platte. Colorado creek? Snyder creek?
Water conservancy district has also been gathering data on sediment loads and water
quality.
John Rich asked: How is sediment anon-consumptive use?
Kent showed more of the attributes SWSI II had on the maps.
Pete C. has some spreadsheets from the other basins, with additional attributes that they
requested. He gave an overview of these to the roundtable.
Discussion about how we may need an inventory of important fisheries:
Kent: some landowners have considered the fisheries and the fish habitat as a very
important attribute of this basin.
Carl: maybe we need a listing or further documentation of those
Kent: quantification of the important fisheries, or high quality fisheries.
Paula: the D.O.W. probably lalows which species are in which streams. They have a
good idea of what's going on in those regions.
The data of where the quality fisheries are in this basin might already be available from
other sources, although we may not know the actual numbers.
Pete and Paula agreed to sit down to draft up some ideas for CDM for the conference call.
