If you have questions regarding this <br />information, please contact Michele O'Connell at: <br />Michele O'Connell <br />USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Region <br />Group Leader Lands Special Uses <br />(303)275-5383, FAX (303)275-5122 <br />mmoconnell ct~ s.fed.us <br />In late October, in response to concerns expressed by the Southwestern Water Conservation District about <br />the potential imposition of bypass flows in connection with some pending Ditch Bill Easements on the <br />San Juan Forest, Harris Sherman, Executive Director of the DNR, sent a letter to Rick Cables, Regional <br />Forester, requesting initiation of consultation between the USFS and the DNR under the April 16, 2004, <br />MOU between the DNR, CWCB and USFS to explore ways to find a mutually acceptable resolution of <br />this matter. (See Attachment 25D-19) <br />WESTERN STATES WATER COUNCIL WATER INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS <br />CONFERENCE: CWCB staff members Carolyn Fritz and Susan Lesovsky attended the Western States <br />Water Council Water Information Management Systems Conference, held September 24 -26, 2007 in <br />Seattle, Washington. The conference's focus was on water resource related decision support systems. <br />Susan and Carolyn gave a presentation on the agency's water resource management tools, including <br />Colorado's Decision Support Systems (CDSS), GIS applications and our document imaging system. The <br />presentation was well received, and by all accounts, the CDSS is the most comprehensive system <br />employed by any western US state. <br />CWCB STAFF INVITED TO ATTEND NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES MEETING: On <br />October 25, 2007, Veva McCaig, with the Office of Water Conserti~ation & Drought Planning, represented <br />the State of Colorado and the Western Governor's Association at a National Academy of Sciences (NAS) <br />meeting in Washington, D.C. The one-day infor-rnal planning meeting focused on science needs for local, <br />state, regional adaptation to climate change. The meeting was convened by the NAS Board on <br />Atmospheric Sciences and Climate and the Climate Research Committee and explored how a National <br />Research Council activity might help inform climate change adaptation efforts, either within specific <br />regions or sectors or across a broad range of spatial scales and applications. The meeting brought <br />together individuals from a variety of backgrounds to identify the most important climate and climate- <br />related information needs for adaptation, with an emphasis on the needs of local, state, and regional <br />decision makers. <br />Flood Protection • Water Project Planning and Finance • Stream and Lake Protection <br />Water Supply Protection • Conservation Plarming <br />
