Recommendation

At present there are several related ongoing issues both in and near the Lost Creek area. The USGS is
currently evaluating groundwater recharge and pumping with field studies and modeling in the Lost Creek
alluvial aquifer system; some of their funding is from the CWCB through a severance tax grant. Also, the
South Platte Task Force recommendations are due Eo come out at the end of September 2407; this report
may have some effect on future studies regarding recharge and storage in the alluvial aquifer system of
the South Platte River and its tributaries. Additionally, local stakeholders need to be apprised of this
proposed study and solicited for input. Before approving funds for this request, there needs to be
coordination of these various elements with the proposed study.
Because of the above-mentioned issues, Staff at this time does not recommend approval for the CGS
request for the Lower Lost Creek Aquifer Storage and Recharge Evaluation.
