reliable sublimation calculations at a watershed scale. Another objective is to evaluate the <br />accuracy of sublimation estimates used in water-supply forecast models. If modeled and <br />measured sublimation agree well, water-supply forecasters and utilities will have increased <br />confidence in runoff estimates. Poor agreement would indicate that some level of observational <br />data is needed to properly account for sublimation in runoff models. Although the study will <br />focus on only two basins, it will have broad applicability to other basins in Colorado. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff recommends the Board request that the General Assembly authorize up to $65,000 from <br />the Construction Fund to be appropriated to the USGS to develop high-resolution estimates <br />of sublimation in two watersheds and to explore possible improvements to sublimation <br />estimates throughout Colorado. <br />2 <br />
