Drawer 8000
Castle Rock, CO 80104-8000

Community: Town of Castle Rock
Community No.: 080050
Panels Affected: 0186 C and 0188 C
Effective Date of SEP
This Revision: 1 2 2(XX)

102-I-C

Dear Mayor Parker:

This responds to a request that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) revise the effective
Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for your community in accordance with Part 65 of the National Flood
Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations. In a letter dated May 18, 1999, Mr. Bryan Paddack, P.E.,
Engineering Review Manager, Town of Castle Rock, requested that FEMA revise the FIRM to show the
effects of construction of a detention facility just upstream of Frontage Road along Tributary D to East
Plum Creek (Tributary D); a pipe storm-drain system along Tributary D from approximately 800 feet
upstream to approximately 4,500 feet upstream of Frontage Road; and a pipe storm-drain system along
Tributary "D" to East Plum Creek (Tributary "D") from approximately 400 feet upstream to
approximately 4,700 feet upstream of Frontage Road. This request follows up on a Conditional Letter of
Map Revision issued on March 24, 1998.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from Mr. Stan
Brown, P.E., Public Works Director, Town of Castle Rock; .E., P.R. Fletcher &
Associates, Inc.; Project Engineer, Rocky Mountain Consultants, Inc.; and
Mr. Paddack.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM.
We have revised the FIRM to modify the floodplain boundary delineations of the flood having a
I-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along Tributary D from
just upstream to approximately 800 feet upstream of Frontage Road and along Tributary "D" from just
upstream to approximately 400 feet upstream of Frontage Road. As a result of the modifications, the
widths of the Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHAs), the areas that would be inundated by the base flood,
for Tributary D and Tributary "D" increased in some areas and decreased in other areas. SFHAs were
removed along Tributary D from approximately 800 feet upstream to approximately 4,500 feet upstream
of Frontage Road and along Tributary "D" from approximately 400 feet upstream to approximately
4,700 feet upstream of Frontage Road. All increases in SFHA width are contained on the requester's
property. The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copies of FIRM Panels 0186 C
and 0188 C. This Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) hereby revises the above-referenced panels of the
effective FIRM dated September 30, ] 987.
