The
next IBCC meeting was scheduled for tomorrow, September 11. Marc would not be able to attend
that meeting due to other commitments.
Marc said that the Gunnison Basin had been given the opportunity to make a presentation at the
meeting. There had been some good discussion with roundtable members from the front range.
A water leadership committee including Phil Harris, CEO for CH2MHill, and Denver University
Chancellor Ritchie took people around the state of Colorado. No new information was included in
the brochure on water shortage in State.
Tyler Martineau asked Marc if any more information had been received on the Colorado Water
Availability Study. Marc replied that he had no new information, however he would forward what
he had to Tyler.
Frank Kugel asked if there had been any word on the status of Kathleen Curry's resignation, and the
possibility of Representative Gibbs taking her place. Marc was surprised and unaware of this
possible change. Marc stated that a replacement would most likely come from this District. Tyler
Martineau mentioned that it appeared she was in a position that was appointed, and based on that he
thought it would be at her discretion who would replace her.
Report from the Educational Committee
Pete Kasper mentioned that the Gunnison Basin webpage was up. He said unfortunately they hadn't
been too many of the photos used, but that the page could was something that could continually be
changed.
Pete reported that he had been invited to an Ag Water Summit presented by the Colorado Ag Water
Alliance, but would not be able to attend. He was asked if any representative of the GBRT would
like to attend in his place. The summit would be on December 13 and 14 at the Jefferson County
Fairgrounds, and speakers would include Bill Ritter, Ken Salazar, Harris Sherman, Rick Brown, and
Justice Hobbs. If anyone was interested they should let him know.
Dixie Luke suggested a possible educational topic would be the impact of the loss of timber forest
on water supply in the future.
Report from the Black Canyon Quantification Committee
David Baumgarten reported that the mediation was moving ahead but they were experiencing some
scheduling problems.
0-
Dave Kanzer asked if anyone had heard that Mike Gross from CDM would not be continuing as
Basin advisor.
