In a letter dated April 10,2003, , P.E., Project Engineer, ICON
Engineering, Inc., requested that FEMA revise the FIRM and FIS report along Cherry Creek from
approximately 1,430 feet downstream to approximately 570 feet upstream of the Highline Canal crossing
to show the effects of channel modifications associated with construction of Drop Structures 22 (D22)
and 23 (D23). D22 and D23 are located approximately 680 feet downstream and approximately 100 feel
downstream, respectively, of the Highline Canal crossing. The channel modifications included
construction of two grouted boulder drop structures, demolition and reconstruction of two pedestrian
bridges, and placement of fill within the revised reach. This request follows up on a Conditional Letter of
Map Revision issued on December 13, 2001.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from

.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM and
in the effective FIS report. We have revised the FIRM and FIS report to modi~y' the elevations and
floodplain boundary delineations of the flood having a I-percent chance of being ~:qualed or exceeded in
any given year (base flood) along Cherry Creek in your community from approximately 1,430 feet
downstream to approximately 950 feet downstream of the Highline Canal crossing. As a result of the
modifications, the Base Flood Elevations (BFEs) and the width of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA),
the area that would be inundated by the base flood, for Cherry Creek decreased. On the eflective FIRM,
no regulatory floodway is identified through this reach of Cherry Creek. The modifications are shown on
the enclosed annotated copies of FIRM Panel 08005CO 170 J and Profile Panel 31 P. This Letter of Map
Revision (LOMR) hereby revises the above-referenced panel of the effective FIR1\1 and the affected
portions of the FIS report, hoth dated August 16, 1995.

Because this revision request also affects the City and County of Denver, a separate LOMR for that
community was issued on the same date as this LOMR.
