A
comparison between precipitation-duration-frequency curves (developed from the u.S.
Department of Commerce, NOAA Atlas 2, Volume III-Colorado) and the Daily Sentinel data
indicates that the precipitation that occurred in the area on September 13th is equivalent to less
than a 2-year frequency event. Figure 7.2-1 illustrates precipitation versus duration for several
return periods for rainfall in Palisade, Colorado.

Figure 7.2-1

Palisade
2.0
---.- 2
~ 1.5 ---5
s:::
0 ---.- 1 0
~ 1.0
a. -~ - 25
'(:;
Q) 0.5 ~100
...
a..
---4-- 1 50
0.0
0 2
Duration (hr)

Precipitation-Duration-Frequency Curves for Palisade, Colorado

URS

T:\PROJ ECTS\6844888 _ CWCB _FLOOD_DOC _RPTS\SUB _00\6.0 _PROJ_DELlV\REPORT\FI NAL REPORT .2.
