<br />SEITIIIFIVE <br /> <br />Rio Blanco Countv <br /> <br />During the latter portion of July and through the majority of August 2001, sizable areas of Rio <br />Blanco County were partially inundated by flash flooding and debris flows as a result of several <br />separate precipitation events. Documentation of the flooding was obtained from Rio Blanco <br />County, CDOT, State and Federal data collection organizations (including the USGS) and from <br />discussions with local residents. <br /> <br />5.1 STUDY AREA DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The majority of the effects of these precipitation events were in the southeastern portion of Rio <br />Blanco County near the Town of Meeker. Lesser effects were also reported near Rangley. <br />Figure 5.1-1 highlights Rio Blanco County, and Figure 5.1-2 provides a location map of the <br />impacted areas. <br /> <br />Figure 5.1-1 <br />Study Area Location <br />Rio Blanco County, Colorado <br /> <br /> <br />The two watersheds most affected by these flood events were the Piceance Creek Watershed <br />Basin and the White River Watershed Basin (shown in Figures 5.1-3 and 5.1-4).
