Interstate 76 crosses the northern
portion of the city. The South Platte River is located approximately 2 miles north of the
city and Beaver Creek flows from south to north just east of the city. Several irrigation
ditches, including the Brush Lateral, traverse portions of the city. The city is bordered on
all sides by unincorporated Morgan County.

Drainage Basin Description
The drainage area considered in this report covers an area of approximately 2 Yz square
miles in the City of Brush, Morgan County, Colorado. The majority ofthe area is
developed with land use consisting of a combination or residential, commercial and
industrial development. A portion of the area remains as undeveloped agricultural land.
Ground slopes in the area are flat and generally slope to the east or northeast toward
Beaver Creek. Frequent low spots are present which do not drain to an identified outfall.
The western portion of the city is somewhat steeper with more well defined drainage
patterns.

Existing Information
A previous study entitled "City of Brush! Stormwater System Study" was prepared by
Carter Burgess, Inc. in 2002 (Reference 1). This study included several potential
stormwater system improvement altematives that are incorporated into this report. This
report also utilized AutoCad drawings and hydrologic information prepared for the
previous study. Other information utilized included base maps and existing storm sewer
maps provided by the City of Brush.

Nolte Associates, Inc.

1
