For the Sunset Addition
alternatives, street improvement or overlay costs are not included in the storm sewer
construction costs with the assumption that the street paving improvements would be
conducted after construction of the storm sewer in that area. Costs for the street
improvements in the area of the storm sewer improvements are included in Table 2 for
reference and are not included in the total costs noted above for the Sunset Addition
storm drainage alternatives.

North Central Area
For the North Central Area, two alternatives were considered, both of which were
addressed in the previous Carter Burgess study. Alternative 1 (Alternative 7 in the
previous Carter Burgess study) consists of construction of additional inlets at a sump in
Williams Street and extending a storm sewer outfall under 1-76 to the City of Brush main
detention facility. Total estimated costs for this alternative are approximately $1.0
million for both the 10-year and 25-year design options respectively.

Alternative 2 (Alternative 8 in the previous Carter Burgess study) consists of construction
of additional inlets and an outfall storm sewer that discharges to a proposed detention
facility immediately west ofthe subdivision. Total estimated costs for this alternative are
approximately $203,000, $221,000 and $313,000 for the 10-year, 25-year and 100-year
design options respectively. Although Alternative 2 is significantly less expensive than
Alternative 1, since there is a pipe outlet from the low-lying area, Altemative 1 provides
a much greater degree of protection from damage by stormwater runoff from other basins
that may collect at that location. This could include runoff from Basins 8 to the west as
well as excess runoff from Basins 2, 3 or 4 to the south and west that could inadvertently

Nolte Associates,Inc.

11
