<br />Technical Review of Alluvial Fan Mapping and Modeling - Scope of Services: <br /> <br />Task 1: Training and Meetings <br /> <br />Purpose: To link key CGS project personnel with pertinent flow models, literature, and <br />CWCB project personnel <br /> <br />Early stages: learn FLO-2D model operation and inputs; search literature for examples of <br />integrating geomorphic and hydrologic-engineering approaches for alluvial f,m <br />floodplain management; initial meetings with CWCB personnel <br /> <br />Middle and late stages: meetings with CWCB personnel as needed <br /> <br />Time estimate: one person-week <br /> <br />Task 2: Field Work <br /> <br />Purpose: To check the modeling results against geomorphic evidence and assess suitability <br />of modeling inputs and results <br /> <br />Early and middle stages: Conduct field assessments of all modeled alluvial fans in an area; <br />this may involve several CGS geologists at first to "calibrate" the main reviewer. Two <br />field assessments would be made, one for the Missionary Ridge area and one for the <br />Coal Seam area. <br /> <br />Late stages: possible field meetings with CWCB and USGS personnel as needed to discuss <br />in-field issues and findings <br /> <br />Time estimate: three person-weeks <br /> <br />Task 3: Review Letters <br /> <br />Purpose: To discuss CGS suitability analyses of model inputs and results for all of the <br />alluvial fans in an area.
