to obtain dimensions of bridges and culverts, and hydraulic parameters at

.

the eight road crossings in the flood plain below Wellington. The field

surveys will be tied to the vertical and horizontal datum established for

photogrammetric mapping.

The magnitude, elevation, and location of flooding for the designated

frequency floods will be developed from hydrologic and hydraulic analyses

using standard Soil Conservation Service techniques and procedures, except

that the u.S. Army Corps of Engineers HEC-2 computer program will be used

for computing water surface profiles.

As requested by the Colorado Water Conservation Board and Larimer

County, a theoretical floodway will be computed and the dimensions shown in

tabular form. The theoretical floodway will also be displayed on the mylar

copy of the flood hazard area maps.

.

An assessment will be made of the existing natural and beneficial

values served by the flood plain in the study area. This assessment will

include consideration of prime farm lands, fish and wildlife habitat,

wetlands and environmental corridors.

A dam breach study will be made for the Boxelder Watershed structures.

Procedures and assumptions will be developed in consultation with the Soil

Conservation Service, West National Technical Center. The breach flood will

be outlined on copies of the edited line maps throughout the study reach or

to the point where the breach flood equals the 100- year flood.

CONTENTS OF THE FINAL REPORT

A preliminary draft of the report on the study will be prepared by

the Soil Conservation Service and submitted for review to the officials of

Larimer County, Town of Wellington, Fort Collins Soil Conservation District,

(.'
...

and the Colorado Water Conservation Board. After reviews are made, a final

copy of the report will be prepared for publication.

-5-
