The following is a sU22ested scope of work for collecting the cross sectional survey data
for the South Platte River. It requires GPS survey methods and provides for state plane
coordinates for all data points, rather than only the end points at major curves. This
provides more flexibility in what can be done with the collected data. The specified data
collection format is HEC-2. However, if a x- Y -Z format is used in an intermediate step,
we would also request that it be provided. This format can be incorporated into
Microstation CADD for surface data if the need arises. Adjustments may need to be made
by the modeler to limit or reduce the number of data points collected for use in HEC-2.
Two cross sections, rather than 1, at each diversion structure are shown on the
photographs. Items in italics or need to be addressed by CWCB, or the CO, or the
POC of the contract.

SCOPE OF WORK
SURVEY DATA
SOUTH PLATTE RIVER, NORTHEAST COLORADO

November, 1998

1. General: This delivery order requires cross sectional surveys for approximately 200 miles of
the South Platte River as shown on the attached map. Cross sections are approximately 0.5 miles
apart, except at bridges and diversion structures, numbered consecutively from 10 to 557. The
survey shall be performed using Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) methods and the final product
shall be delivered no later than

2. Furnished Items: The following items will be furnished to the contractor by the Omaha
District, or other contracting agency.

a. Location map of the survey area and the locations of the control monuments. Are
control monument locations for the aerial photography available?

b. Horizontal and vertical control sheets for the monuments in the survey area. Is
horizontal and vertical control for the aerial photography available?

c. Examples of the required data format (HEC-2), or an optional X- Y-Z format, for use
by the contractor are attached.

d. Aerial photographs with the cross sections identified and located.

3. Survey Requirements: Obtain full cross section surveys at the locatiops indicated on item
2d. GPS survey methods shall be used. Each section shall extend as ~hown on the aerial
photographs or to an obvious high elevation point. Sections shall not be extended to the extent
that they intersect. The sections shall be perpendicular to the river centerline (or nearly so) at all
times. Individual cross sections are shown completely on single photographs, with no overlap or
