Commodore Mine
Intensive historical mining activities occurred in the area
of the Commodore Mine and significant amounts of ore
and rock were removed from a myriad of tunnels. Mine
tailings now fill a large portion of the West Willow Creek
canyon (right). A flume and metal pipe were positioned
to carry West Willow Creek over and through the large
Commodore Mine tailings pile.

At the upstream side of the tailings pile, West Willow
Creek is first directed into a flume that conveys the water
over the upper level of the tailings pile on the level of the
Commodore tunnel. Below are photos of the entrance to
the flume, the upper wooden portion of the flume, and the
drop from the flume to the middle level of the tailings
pile though the lower section of flume that has been
recently replaced with steel.

..... .........
