FEMA has identitied the need to modernize the Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Flood Insurance
Study for your community in anticipation of pending appropriation ofsutlicient funding through
the Federal Budget. The mapping format selected will address participating communities with:in
County by consolidating community-based studies into a single countywide set of
maps. This initiative, known as the Multi-Hazard Flood Map Modernization Program, ,'s a
cooperative effort between the region, state and community officials and has the primary goals of
reducing the loss oflife and property, minimizing suffering and disruption caused by disaster,
and better preparing the Nation to address the consequences of flooding and other hazards.

In prep,aration for this potential actfvity a FEMA contractor will be in contact with your
community to solicit your input, participation, and support ofthi's program. The contractor
will collect, summarize, and provide available data tor use in the tlood mapping eflort to
FEMA for distribution to interested participants. The type of data that will be requested
includes, but is not limited to, the following:

· Elevation Data - LiDAR, Digital Elevation Models, etc.
· Base Map Information - Roads, Streams, etc. in GIS format.
· Aerial Photography
· Floodplain Ordinance Information
· Flooding Information - Areas of concern (flood damaged homes, inundated roads, etc.)
