<br />c. <br /> <br />I ~ .. <br /> <br />2004 <br /> <br /> <br />SENATE RESOLUTION 04-005 <br /> <br />. ~. - - <br /> <br />BY SENA TOR(S) Evans, Chlouber, Anderson, Andrews, Arnold, Cairns, <br />Dyer, Entz, Gordon, Groff, Hanna, Hil1man~ Jsgar, Johns,?n S._,jO!l_~S,___ . <br />.~- KeIler, Kester, Lamborn, -May R., Nichol, Owen, Reeves, Sandoval, Tapia, -, <br />Taylor, Teck, and Windels. <br /> <br />CONCERNING SUPPORT FOR THE RUETER-HESS RESERVOIR IN <br />THE PARKER WATER AND SANITATION DISTRICT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, An a<:iequate' supply of high-quality water is essential for <br />the economy, sustainable growth~ and the quality of life of residents of the <br />Parker, Colorado area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Colorado is an arid state that has periodic droughts and <br />must carefully conserve and reuse its limited supply of water as much as <br />possible; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Douglas County and the south metro area is especially <br />vulnerable to drought and water supply storage problems; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Parker area is dependent on ground water and its <br />nonrenewable aquifer; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Parker Water and Sanitation District has been in the <br />forefront of helping residents conserve and reuse water; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rueter-Hess Reservoir is a proposed 16,000 acre-foot <br />reservoir to be built 3 miles southwest of the Town of Parker; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rueter-Hess Reservoir will provide a water management <br />tool for the Parker Water and Sanitation District that will store runoff and <br />help preserve the aquifer by regulating peak-day pwnping requirements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rueter-Hess Reservoir has the support of Douglas County, <br />
