#10

Status Summary of Rueter-Hess Reservoir

,/ Rueter-Hess Reservoir will provide a long-term, reliable water supply
storage for the District, and eventually for regional water supply
providers.

,/ The reservoir site has great flexibility, in that it can accommodate
either a 10,000 ac-ft reservoir, a 55,000 ac-ft reservoir or a dam that
would be built in stages, whereby the 10,000 ac-ft reservoir would be
built initially, then enlarged to its ultimate capacity of 55,000 ac-ft.

,/ There are sufficient in-basin water supplies to justify the construction
of Rueter-Hess Reservoir, including (a) in-priority Cherry Creek flows,
(b) advanced wastewater treatment effluent, ( c) recapture irrigation
return flows, (d) in-priority Newlin Gulch flows, and (e) Denver Basin
aquifer well pumping.

,/ Imported water supplies, while not currently available for District use,
can expand the utility and water supply capability of Rueter-Hess
Reservoir.

,/ The reservoir can serve multiple purposes, including (a) direct uSe for
municipal water supplies, (b) carryover storage that provides reliable
yield in dry years, ( c) source for bedrock aquifer injection, and (d)
releases that can be utilized by downstream users on Cherry Creek.

,/ Both the environmental and geotechnical studies necessary to get to the
construction phase are already under way, and these studies indicate no
fatal flaws which would preclude the development of the project.
