I. NTRODUCTION
This Flood Hazard Area Delineation Report (FHAD) is the result of a study for Upper Lena Gulch
initiated by the project sponsors: the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, Jefferson
County, and the Cities of Golden and Lakewood. The major purpose of this study is to identify
the boundaries of the 1 DO-year floodplain and the associated flood hazards within Upper Lena
Guich. The information provided in this report is intended to update portions of a previous
study (Lena Gulch Master Drainage Plan) completed in June 1975. . Improvements which have
been constructed in the basin since the previous Master Plan are incorporated in the analyses.
In addition, this study employs new techniques and criteria for evaluating the hydrologic and
hydraulic characteristics of the basin. Using that information the Upper Lena Gulch
drainageways were evaluated to determine the extent of flooding
