er Lena Gulch Flood Hazard Area Delineation

Attached hereto is the Flood Hazard Area Delineation (FHAD) report prepared in conjunction with the
major drainageway planning study for Upper Lena Gulch. This report summarizes the results of extensive
hydrologic and hydraulic analyses perfonned to identify areas of flood hazard along Upper Lena Gulch and
along the Pleasant View and Apex Gulch tributaries.

The portions of the study area prone to flooding as a result of flows in Lena Gulch, Apex Gulch, and the
Pleasant View Tributary are shown on the mapping of the 100-year floodplain included at the end of this
report. In addition, the computed floodway which denotes the allowable limits of encroachment, based on
Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and local sponsor criteria, is tabulated on the floodplain and
floodway table contained in this report.

The infonnation contained in the report should serve to aid floodplain managers in decision-making
regarding future improvements and development along the drainageway. Specific suggested alternative
improvements to the drainageway are discussed at length in the accompanying Phase A Report for Upper
Lena Gulch.

The input received from the District and the other project sponsors, Jefferson County, the City of Golden
and the City of Lake wood, was invaluable in evaluating the drainageways. We have enjoyed working with
