Note flow lines. <br /> <br /> <br />in Colorado alone. <br /> <br />Western tributaries of the Canadian River above Conchas Reservoir. New <br /> <br />Mexico. had a major flood on June 15. The same streams and those in the <br /> <br />headwaters of the Canadian River were in flood again on June 17 J 18. The <br /> <br />stage near Sanchez on June 18 was 3 feet higher than that on June 15. 10.2 <br /> <br />feet higher than the maximum in 33 years of record. and the highest in at <br /> <br />least 100 years. Runoff from both of these floods was completely controlled <br /> <br />by Conchas Reservoir. <br /> <br />John Martin Reservoir on the Arkansas River held the entire flood runoff <br /> <br />from the basin above it. however the uncontrolled tributary inflow below <br /> <br />John Martin Reservoir was so outstanding that towns from Lamar. Colo. to <br /> <br />Dodge City. Kans. were extensively damaged. <br />
