Lightening, Flash floods. The <br />Gun n ison Basin has seen a little bit of <br />everything lately Pictyreg here are the <br />remnants of a flash~~d}that washed <br />debris across Hwy 50, 14 miles east of <br />town, closing the road for about three <br />hours last Friday evening, According to <br />Doyleville rancher Mae Peterson, the <br />deluge also wiped out about 10 tons <br />of hay, On Sunday, county residents <br />were treated to an electrical storm that <br />lit up the evening sky for hours - to the <br />tune of more than 3,000 strikes, ac- <br />cording to some accounts. Lightening <br />is suspected to have caused a small fire <br />that burned in the sage brush about 10 <br />miles south of town, causing no dam- <br />ages. According to the official weather <br />station at Gunnison County Electric As- <br />sociation, Gunnison received .99 inches <br />of rain between Monday and Tuesday <br />Afternoon showerssh~edup again <br />Wednesday and a.ri1tiq~li(;l~(had just <br />closed Monarch Pass as the Times went <br />to press. <br /> <br /> <br />Photo by ChrisDickey <br />
