5. Panel 656: Please review the area between Cross Sections Hand J. There are two properties
which are shown to be almost completely inundated by the new floodplain. However, there.
appears to be several inconsistencies through this section of Gore Creek. For instance, please
refer to the color 8 % x 11 pages in Exhibit G.

BFE Elevation Flood Deoth oer Vail toDO Flood Deoth oar orofile
. 7835 6W 7
. 7830 7 6
. 7825 4 5
. 7822 3 5

a. This question relates to the revision of the Vail FIRMs from August 28, 2003: The profile
stream bottom does not relate to the topo that was supposedly used for the flood model.
Shouldn't they be an exact match?
b. Enclosed with Exhibit G are two detailed surveys of the lots in question. Please use
these as needed to determine whether the floodplain truly inundates most of the property
in question.

Cross Sections
1. When comparing the original Preliminary FIRMs (April 11 , 2003) to the revised ones (August 28,
2003), it appears that many of the cross sections were moved upstream by 40 or 50 feet. What is
the reason for this, and since many of these occur at bridge crossings, how does it affect the flow
through the bridges?

2. Please refer to the attached Exhibit E, "Comparison between Cross Section Elevations." This
sheet compares the cross section elevations provided from three different locations. a) from
Table 2 of the Floodplain Study, b) interpreted from the profiles, c) from the file sent by Baker to
the Town of Vail for overlaying onto our GIS.

Please note that in many locations there is a substantial difference between the floodplain study
and the file sent by Baker. We ask that these be reviewed to determine why they are different,
and where the numbers came from. Is it possible that the overall BFE's will change due to these
differences?

Street Names
There are numerous street name corrections and additions. They are marked in red pencil on the
enclosed FIRMs.
