We help our clients find creative, yet pragmatic solutions <br />to environmental and social needs. Our goal is a better <br />relationship between people and their surroundings - both <br />natural and man-made. Several Urban Edges projects have received local <br />and national awards. <br /> <br />Robert M. Searns, AICP <br /> <br />Robert M. Searns is the founding owner of Urban Edges, <br />Inc. - an urban design and planning firm based in Denver, <br />Colorado. Bob is a graduate of the State University of New <br />York at Buffalo School of Architecture and holds a Master <br />of Architecture degree. He has an undergraduate degree in <br />Economics. He has been practicing planning since 1971. <br />Bob offers a broad range of skills from traditional planning <br />and site layout to specialty skills in waterfront and public <br />amenity development. He has directed implementation of <br />several successful large-scale waterfront projects including <br />Denver's Platte River Greenway - a la-mile, $10 million urban <br />river recreation corridor - and major riverfront improvements <br />in Arapahoe County, Colorado. His Arapahoe County project <br />was the winner of the 1986 American Planning Association <br />National Current Topic Award. <br />He has planned a number of community development, park <br />and open space projects for clients in the Rocky Mountain <br />West and Great Lakes region. He has directed fund-raising <br />efforts for several large-scale projects and has drafted <br />comprehensive planning policy statements. His work history <br />places a strong emphasis on getting projects implemented. <br />Bob is a member of the American Institute of Certified <br />Planners by virtue of meeting experience requirements and <br />passing the AICP national exam. He also holds a Colorado <br />Real Estate License. He has been a speaker at a number of <br />national planning conferences, and has had articles published <br />in Landscape Architecture and other national publications. He <br />has served on panels including the Colorado Governor's Open <br />Space and Agricultural Lands Committee and the Canada <br />National Capital Waterfront Workshop. <br /> <br />38 <br /> <br />Wendy N. Booth - Landscape Architect/Research Associate <br /> <br />Wendy offers a strong background in landscape design, <br />landscape construction and computer graphic systems. Wendy <br />is also an experienced writer and researcher. <br />At Urban Edges, Wendy served as the project landscape <br />architect for the Grand Junction Waterfront. She worked with <br />the Urban Edges staff on numerous other design and planning <br />efforts, including the Arkansas River State Recreation Area <br />Concept Plan and the Colorado Springs Midland Corridor <br />Masterplan. Wendy has prepared graphic and written <br />promotional material for the award winning Arapahoe <br />Greenway, the Arkansas River State Recreation Area as well <br />as Holly Dental Associates and Kimball Real Estate in Ithaca, <br />New York. <br />Wendy keeps up to date on the use of computer design and <br />drafting services and desktop publishing for the landscape <br />architectural/planning professions. For three semesters Wendy <br />taught both beginning and advanced Autocad at the <br />Community College of Denver. Wendy is a member of the <br />Denver Autocad Users Group. <br />Prior to joining Urban Edges, Wendy operated a landscape <br />architecture and construction firm. She handled marketing, <br />design and contract administration. Wendy worked with <br />residential, commercial and institutional clients throughout <br />the Denver metro area. <br />Wendy graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New <br />York in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape <br />Architecture. Before enrolling at Cornell, Wendy studied <br />urban development, economics and architectural history at <br />Northwestern University in Evanston, illinois. Wendy <br />continues to learn about horticulture and computer related <br />topics at the Denver Botanic Garden and the Community <br />College of Denver. <br />Wendy is a member and active volunteer for the Denver <br />Botanic Garden. She is also a member of the Denver Art <br />Museum, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the <br />Nature Conservancy. <br /> <br />Jones & Jones, Seattle, Washington <br /> <br />Grant R. Jones, <br /> <br />Grant R. Jones is a Fellow of the American Society of <br />Landscape Architects and a senior partner and co-founder of <br />Jones & Jones, Architects & Landscape Architects, Seattle, <br />Washington. He began his career as an architect (B.A 1961, <br />University of Washington), but over the next three years while <br />working in the Seattle office of landscape architect Richard <br />Haag and studying under the late poet Theodore Roethke, <br />his interest quickly shifted to the landscape-at-Iarge. He later <br />received an M.A. in landscape architecture from Harvard's <br />Graduate School of Design, culminating in a Frederick <br />Sheldon Travelling Fellowship (1966-1967) for travel through <br />South America and Europe. <br /> <br />
