<br />CLIMATIC DATA
<br />
<br />Presents tables of monthly and
<br />annUlll averages, totals or extreme
<br />climate conditions for approximately
<br />300 major population centers. This
<br />publication is particularly helpful for
<br />comparing temperature, rainfall,
<br />snowfall, wind velocities, sunshine,
<br />cloudiness and relative humidities
<br />for the principal cities. The cities
<br />are listed alphabetically by state in
<br />two sections: observed data and
<br />climatological normals. This is an
<br />annual publication.

<br />STORM DATA
<br />
<br />Monthly issue presents a chronological
<br />listing, by states, of occu"ences of storms
<br />and unusual weather phenomena, together
<br />with data on the paths of individuai storms,
<br />deaths, injuries, and estimated property
<br />damage, and a brief nan'ative description of
<br />each event. A new section in the bulletin
<br />entitled "OUTSTANDING STORMS OF
<br />THE MONTH" highlights severe weather
<br />and includes descriptive photographs of
<br />storms, their tracks, and analyzed maps.
<br />The December issue includes annUlll
<br />summaries of tornadoes and lightning and
<br />North A tlantic tropical cyclones.

<br />summarizing monthly data and including
<br />up to 40 years record, and featuring a
<br />narrative climatological summmy and
<br />history of the station.

<br />daily temperature and precipitation records,
<br />and monthly averages and totals, with
<br />departures from normal when available. A Iso
<br />derived statistics such as heating and cooling
<br />degree days, counts of days equaling or
<br />exceeding given temperature and precipitation
<br />thresholds, extremes, etc., are published for
<br />cooperative and fl1'st.order stations. Evaporation
<br />and soil temperature data are given for reporting
<br />stations. Seasonal snowfall, heating and cooling
<br />degree day tables included in selected tables.

<br />Monthly issue presents daily, hourly and
<br />moximum short duration data for the recording
<br />gage stations for each state except Alaska. The
<br />annual issue tabulates monthly and annual

<br />data by selected time categories.
