The study reach <br />extends approximately 14 miles from Vallecito Reservoir, <br />south to the Southern Ute Reservation boundary, and will <br />provide the County with detailed flood plain information for <br />emergency and planning purposes. <br /> <br />The Corps has completed the hydrologic analysis, and <br />representatives of La Plata County; the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board; and the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation, <br />Durango Projects Office, have approved the hydrologic <br />methodology. As you requested in your telephone conversa- <br />tion with Ms. Bet Lotosky, of my staff, on March 31, 1999, <br />we are providing the preliminary 1.0%-chance flood discharge <br />of 11,500 cubic feet per second for the Los pinos River at <br />Bayfield, Colorado_ <br /> <br />As part of the flood plain delineation study, the Corps <br />will produce for La Plata County, a report describing the <br />hydrologic and hydraulic methodology. Upon completion of <br />the study, La Plata County representatives would like to <br />submit the information to the Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency to serve as the basis for a revision of the La Plata <br />County Flood Insurance Rate Map. Therefore, we have <br />submitted the hyqrology to the Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency for their review before we proceed with the hydraulic <br />analysts. The hydrologic analysis remains preliminary until <br />we .. receive their concurrence . <br /> <br />
