.

.

.

Western States Water Council
Executive Committee Minutes

Seattle, Washington
July 14, 2005

COMMEMORATION OF THE COUNCIL'S 40TH ANNIVERSARY

Hal mentioned the commemoration of the Council's 40th anniversary to be held this evening. A
program will begin at 6:00 pm. There are a number of former Council members who will be
attending. Some former Chairs will be introduced and there are a couple of folks who will join via
conference call. Roland Westergard is expected to provide a brief historical background if he arrives
in time. If he does not, Craig will provide this history. The staff has prepared a special publication as
well as some commemorative mugs and pens for the occasion. The celebration will be wrapped up
with a cake. Hal encouraged everyone to attend this evening's social hour.

Weir complimented the staff for their work in preparing the 40th anniversary commemorative
booklet. He found it very useful. Hal and others also offered their comments and compliments, and
acknowledged the role of the California Department of Water Resources in providing the graphics artist
for the project.

NOMINATING SUBCOMMITTEE

Larry Anderson reported on behalf of Roland Westergard, the Nominating Subcommittee
Chair, as Roland is in Carson City at the dedication of a new building being named in honor of
Governor Richard Bryan of Nevada. Roland is expected to join us at the social hour this evening.
Larry stated that the Subcommittee would propose maintaining the current slate of officers with the
exception of Roger Patterson, who currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer. Roger will be leaving
state government to pursue private consulting. Therefore, the Subcommittee will move to nominate
Jack Stults as Secretary/Treasurer. Jack is agreeable to serving in this capacity.

FUTURE COUNCIL MEETINGS

The next meetings of the Council will be held in San Antonio, Texas on October 19-21. The
following Spring, the Council will hold its Water Policy Seminar in Washington, DC. This will be
held at the Holiday Inn Capitol on March 27-29,2006. Colorado will then host the Summer 2006
meetings in Breckenridge, Colorado in July.

OTHER MATTERS

There being no other matters, the meeting was adjourned.

F:\MINUTES\EXEC-W A. wpd

7
