Council Members
June 15, 2005
Page 2

.

Whenever a person who is not a Council representative is attending on behalf of a
Council member at a regular or special meeting of the Council, either in person or via
conference call, a written notification to this effect must be provided to the Council offices to
assure that the person is serving in the appropriate capacity. Since delegations to the Council
from each state consist of more than one person, but each state has only one vote, the Executive
Committee member for each state shall be responsible as an internal state matter for coordinating
and communicating the official position of the state relative to voting on proposed policy
positions.

A conference call for the Executive Committee to discuss the proposed positions is scheduled on June 27
at 2:00 pm Mountain Time. Executive Committee members (or their designated alternate) may access the call by
dialing 1~312-461-0833, and when prompted, enter passcode 220885.

A schedule of the meetings is also enclosed for your reference. As you know, the Council has organized
a roundtable discussion on Wednesday morning with federal agency participants. The focus of this second in a
series of meetings is water data collection and management programs. It will begin at 7:30 am with a continental
breakfast and conclude by noon. Since these half-day meetings are taking the place of our annual Fall
Symposium, we are asking all attendees to register and to pay a registration fee. The fee is $75 and a form is
enclosed for your use. Additional forms are available on our website:
http://www . westgov. org/wswc/meetings .hool.

On Thursday evening, following our meetings, Golder Associates will host a social hour at the Red Lion
Hotel from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The social hour has been extended and will feature a brief program to
commemorate the Council's 40th anniversary. Former Council members have been invited to attend, and some .
have already confirmed.

As we indicated in our email and mailing of the lO-day Notice, our block of rooms at the Red Lion
expired on June 10. The hotel may have some rooms available, but not at our special group rate. To make
reservations call toll free at 1-800-504-3909 or call the hotel directly at 206-971-8000.

In the event you are unable to secure a room at the Red Lion Hotel, we would .refer you to the Crowne
Plaza - Seattle on 1113 Sixth Avenue. Please call 1-800-521-2762 or 1-206-464-1980 and identify your
affiliation with Western States Water Council to ensure that you receive the special group rate of $159 for
single/double occupancy standard guestroom. Alternatively, you may contact the Sheraton Seattle Hotel &
Towers located at 1400 Sixth Avenue Reservation Department at 1-888-627-7056 as early as possible to secure
accommodations at a rate of $179 single/double in the Main Hotel. In any case, we would advise you to call at
your earliest convenience.

The agenda will be distributed next week. We have also enclosed a copy of the WOA Staff Council list
to facilitate contact as you deem appropriate. If we can be of any assistance, or if you have any questions
regarding the foregoing, please give us a call.

cc: WGA Staff Council and WGA Staff

Enclosures
Schedule of Meetings
Proposed Positions (6)
Sunsetting Positions (8)
Workshop Agenda
Registration Forms for: FieldTrip and Water Data Collection & Management Programs Workshop .
WOA Staff Council List

F:\USERS\CHERYL\COMTG\30-DA Y W A.doc
