Grant Evaluation Criteria

The Proposed Study fully satisfies several of the criteria used to evaluate the merits of the water
activity proposed for funding. Phase II of the Missouri Heights Ground Water Monitoring Program
will allow the Basalt Water Conservancy District (District) to provide critical technical information
for a highly developed, yet understudied aquifer. This will provide a foundation for discussions
between interested parties (e.g. proposed Junior rights, existing Senior rights, the Division of
Water Resources, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board) regarding the future development
of the Missouri Heights aquifer. It will help identify whether there is sufficient physical supply to
meet future water needs on Missouri Heights; thereby addressing one of the water management
objectives identified in the Statewide Water Supply Initiative. Furthermore, the assessment of
physically available supply will promote maximum utilization of State waters.
