Water Supply Reserve Account – Grant Appli cation Form
Form Revised July 2006
_______________________________________

Please provide a brief narrative of any related or relevant previous studies.
4.

Dam inspection by Dennis Miller this last fall confirmed the
issues with the outlet tube after a camera inspection of the

tube.

We have also investiga ted some method of automating the

headgate, but we found no “standard” solution. We would need
to add a motor and gearing to the headgate valve stem, add a

measuring device to the outlet tower and an
electronic/electrical control box to translate level

me asurements into headgate commands.

With the overly large size of the headgate, the slop in the

headgate linkage, the trash/crawdad problem, the need to
bring power to the location and concern about any possibility

of it running amuck (therefore needing a “ phone - home” alarm
system), it is a less - than - desirable alternate.

Our opinion is this automation would at best be a temporary
and potentially high maintenance option. The custom aspect
of design and installation does not leave us feeling
comfortable ab out this as a direction to pursue. Also, it
mitigates but does not solve the outlet pressure issue and
does nothing about measurement requirements.

4
