Bull Creek Reservoir Canal and Power Company is a private non - profit corporation, incorp -
orated in August 1896. The Company owns and operates five reservoirs located within the
Grand Mesa Un compa h g re National Forest . The reservoirs serve 26 stockholders (including
Ute Water Conservancy District) and provide s irrigation water to approximately 800 acres in the
Plateau Valley on the n orth flank of Grand Mesa, as well as a domestic water reserve for Ute
Water. Ute serves nearly 70,000 municipal water users in the Grand Valley area of Western
Colorado. The reservoirs are also used by the general public for fishing and recreation.
Addit ional uses include stock water , wetlands sustenance, and wildlife enhancement , and are an
amenity to the GMUG National Forest.
Because of safety concerns, Bull Creek R eservoir No. 4 is under a filling res triction from the
State Engineer . Until the reserv oir is rehabilitated, the water users suffer from decreased
storage and decreased delivery of water. Additionally, senior storage rights would be lost if the
reservoir is not rehabilitated.
