The City's Water Board and staff have <br />estimated that an absolute minimum size needed just for emergency storage is 2,000 ac-ft. The water <br />supply study recommended 3,000 ac-ft of active storage for drought protection, which could serve <br />Loveland's population well into the next century. The reservoir site itself can accommodate a 6,000 <br />ac-ft reservoir within City-owned property with a 50-foot raise of the existing dam. The City's Water <br />Board recommends a 6,000 ac-ft size, with construction to begin in 2000, and estimated project cost <br />just below $20M. City Council will be considering this recommendation in early 1997. <br />
