Box 1190
Fort Collins, CO 80522-1190

Community: Larimer County, CO
Community No.: 080101
Panel Affected: 0180 E
Ef~ective.~ate of APR 1 0 2002
This RevIsion:

102-I-A-C

Dear Ms. Rennels:

This responds to a request that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) revise the effective
Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report for your community in
accordance with Part 65 of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations. In a letter dated
August 15,2001, P.E., Vice President, Northern Engineering Services, Inc.,
requested that FEMA revise the FIRM and FIS report to show the effects of updated topographic
information along Boxelder Creek and Boxelder Creek Overflow Channel, installation of three 21-foot
by 10-foot reinforced-concrete box culverts under the State Highway 14 (SHI4) crossing of Boxelder
Creek, and channelization and realignment along Boxelder Creek Overflow Channel. The realignment of
Boxelder Creek Overflow Channel included construction of a flood c~annel to take flows that overtop
SH14 and route them directly east to Boxelder Creek. Along Boxelder Creek, the confluence with
Boxelder Creek Overflow Channel was moved approximately 3,000 feet upstream; it is now located
approximately 200 feet downstream ofSH14.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM
and in the effective FIS report. We have revised the FIRM and FIS report to modify the elevations,
floodplain boundary delineations, and zone designations of the flood having a I-percent chance of being
equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along Boxelder Creek and Boxelder Creek Overflow
Channel. As a result of the modifications, the Base Flood Elevations (BFEs) for Boxelder Creek
increased, and the width of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by
the base flood, increased in some areas and decreased in other areas. Also as a result of the
modifications, the BFEs for Boxelder Creek Overflow Channel and the width of the SFHA increased in
some areas and decreased in other areas. The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copies
of FIRM Panel 0180 E, Profile Panels 160P and 184P, and affected portions of the Summary of
Discharges Table. This Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) hereby revises the above-referenced panel of
the effective FIRM dated March 18, 1996, and the affected portions of the FIS report dated March 23,
1999.

The modifications are effective as of the date shown above. The map panel listed above and as modified
by this letter will be used for all flood insurance policies and renewals issued for your community.
