I
I
-
m
I
m
m
m
m
I
m
I
m
I
m
m
m
I
I

Lower Big Dry Creek Hydrologic Study

111 1995; however, nuisance-type problems are reported to have occurred with increased
frequency over the last 10 years. Landowners' concerns were heightened significantly following
the storm events of July and August 2004. This section summarizes the findings ofWWE's field
visits and interviews with landowners in early 2005.

Between January and May 2005, WWE staff met with the following Weld and Adams County
landowners and observed flooding and erosion related problems at locations marked on Figure 8:

. John and Gary Howard

. Don Wright

. Tom Chikuma

. Don and Barbara Rosenbrock

. Joanne Wagner (Gary Skelton, Ranch'Manager)

. Glenda Ira

. Bob Green

. Vicinity ofE-470

Observations from visits to these properties follow, along with photographs illustrating some of
the problem areas (Appendix A). All properties had been previously visited, photographed or
documented in either the Big Dry Creek Stream Survey (WWE 2000) or Streambank Analysis
and Recommendations for Big Dry Creek (Gossenauer and Wachob 2001). Property formerly
farmed (and photographed) by Barry Marrs that was included in previous studies is now owned
by the Wrights and was included in the field visit. All of the individuals participating in the field
visits had attended the December 2004 Big Dry Creek Watershed Association meeting and
expressed interest in participating in the study. Other landowners in the watershed are reported
to have similar types of concerns; therefore, the observations below should not be considered to
be the only major issues on the creek.

971-179.092
June 2005

Wright Water Engineers, Inc.

Page 41
