Federal Emergency Management Agency
Washington, D.C. 20472
JUN 291998

-----

Buena Vista, Colorado 81211

IN REPLY REFER TO CASE NO. 98-08-265A
Community: Chaffee County, Colorado
Community No.: 080269
Map Panel Affected: 0210 B
Map Effective Date: March 4, 1987
218-70-RS

Dear

We reviewed your request dated April 3, 1998, for a Letter of Map Amendment. All required information for this
request was received on June 23, 1998. Using the information submitted and the effective National Flood Insurance
Program (NFIP) map, we determined portions of the property described below are in a Special Flood Hazard Area
(SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the flood having a I-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any
given year (base flood); however, the structure on the property is not in the SFHA.

Property Description: A portion of Section 5, Township 14 South, Range 78 West, Sixth Principal
Meridian, as described in the Warranty Deed recorded as Reception No. 263835 in
Book 527, Pages 394 and 395, in the Office of the Recorder, Chaffee County,
Colorado

Street Address: 30925 County Road 371

Flooding Source: Arkansas River

This letter amends the above-referenced NFIP map to remove the structure from the SFHA. The structure is now
in Zone X (unshaded), an area of minimal flooding outside the SFHA. Flood insurance coverage for the structure
may be available under a tow-cost policy (see enclosed document). Because portions of the property remain in the
SFHA, any future construction or substantial improvement on the property remains subject to Federal, State, and local
regulations for floodplain management.

The NFIP map affecting the property depicts the SFHA determined using the flood data available, but without
performing a detailed engineering analysis or establishing base flood elevations. Determinations based on these flood
data are approximate and subject to change.

The enclosed document provides additional information about Letters of Map Amendment. If you have any questions
about this letter, please contact Ms. Sally Magee of our staff in Washington, DC, either by telephone at
(202) 646-8242 or by facsimile at (202) 646-4596.

Sincerely,

'\~~.
