Section 9 Attachment

Jackson Gulch Reservoir Expansion Project

· 2) Develop the resource assessment matrix-- a tabulated summary of current
resource conditions, conservation opportunities, preservation of open space
and related installation and maintenance costs, qualitative effects on primary
resource concems and potential funding sources for their implementation.

.

· 3) Invite local stakeholders (with special encouragement to limited resource
farmers and ranchers and to members of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe) to
review the profile, identify their needs and areas of concem, and share their
vision of the watershed's future.

Once the assessment is compiled, stakeholders will be brought together to develop a
watershed management plan. The planning will provide a process by which to identify
implementation needs for projects that address: weed control; agricultural efficiency
improvement, production support, open space; water supply; wildlife habitat
emichment including wetland restoration; river restoration (e.g. stream bank
stabilization, correction of river braiding, enhancement of fish habitat, riparian corridor
protection, water quality monitoring); and ongoing community outreach and education
programs.

The Mancos Conservation District is working in partnership with representatives of
resource providers and land management agencies on this project including the Mancos
Water Conservancy District, San Juan Public Lands (US Forest Service), the Town of
Mancos, Montezuma County, Mesa Verde National Park, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe,
the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and private landowners. Collabration in partnership
affords everyone the opportunity to tap the vast wealth of knowledge that exists within
each organization with the objective of creating a sustainable resource base for the
Mancos Valley residents.

.

.
