Actual Use Survey Show that a Very Good Experience Occurs at 600cfs to
700cfs

While being interviewed, most kayakers seemed to enjoy their kayaking experience.
Almost all kayakers seemed to tailor their answers to questions about flow rates relative
to the flow at which they were recreating. The majority ofkayakers were interviewed
while flows were above 600cfs.

Many ofthe kayakers interviewed were seen freestyle kayaking repeatedly at the C-Hole
and D-Hole at lower flows. On average, kayakers had a "good" kayaking experience at
the C Hole and D Hole at flow levels of 500cfs and above. Kayakers were asked to rate
their experience on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 representing "poor," 2 representing "fair," 3
representing "good," 4 representing "very good," and 5 representing "excellent."

The majority (62%) of the kayakers interviewed while flow levels were below 1,000cfs
had a very good or excellent experience. As Table 1 below illustrates, the average
experience rating of the largest number ofkayakers interviewed (17) is 4.1 (above "very
good"). The majority of the seventeen kayakers interviewed while flows ranged between
600cfs and 700cfs described their experience as "very good". Three interviews show that
the average rating at a flow level of 500cfs is 3.0 or "good" (2 ofthe kayakers
interviewed had a very good experience, while one had a poor experience). The average
rating at flows ranging between 800cfs and 900cfs is 3.5 (above "good"), which is a
lower rating than those between flows of 600cfs and 700cfs.
