Federal Emergency Management Agency
Washington, D.C. 20472

AUG 0 5 1998

LETTER OF MAP REVISION BASED ON FILL
218-65-NS

IN REPLY REFER TO CASE NO. 98-08-288A

Community: Gilpin County, Colorado
Community No.: 080075 B
Map Panel Affected: 10
Map Effective Date: March 1, 1986

We reviewed a request dated May 8, 1998, for a Letter of Map Revision. All required information for this request,
including the required review and processing fee, was received on July 14, 1998. Using the information submitted
and the effective National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map, we determined the structure on the property
described below is in a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the flood having a
I-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood). The structure, as shown on the
effective NFIP map, remains in the SFHA designated Zone A. This property was elevated by the placement of fill
after the date of the earliest NFIP map showing the area in the SFHA.

Property Description: Lot 80, Kingdom of Gilpin Estates, Unit 3, as shown on the Plat recorded as
Reception No. 3215, in the Office of the Recorder, Gilpin County. Colorado

Street Address: 2126 Apex Valley Road

Flooding Source: North Clear Creek

The elevations of both the lowest adjacent grade to a structure (the lowest ground touching the structure) and the
lowest floor (including basement/crawl space) must be at or above the base flood elevation (BFE) for the structure
to be outside the SFHA. Because the elevation of the lowest floor of the structure, 8,715.4 feet, is lower than the
BFE, 8,716,8 feet, the structure is within the SFHA; therefore, flood insurance is required. These elevations are
referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. This determination is based on the flood data presently
available.

Should you wish to resubmit this request, the NFIP regulations provide a period of 90 days from the date of this letter
for resubmission of revised data without repayment of review and processing fee. Data submitted after 90 days will
be subject to all submittal/payment procedures.

The enclosed document provides additional information about your options for obtaining a Letter of Map Revision.
If you have any questions about this letter, please contact Mr. Mike Grimm of our staff in Washington, DC, either
by telephone at (202) 646-2878 or by facsimile at (202) 646-4596.

Sincerely,

'\~~. ~~

Matthew B.
