The Rocky Mountain News reponed 2.47 total inches of precipitation for
Colorado Springs and states this number was obtained directly from the National
Weather Service. 9News continned this number for Colorado Springs but included a
maximum precipitation intensity for Jamestown on the order of I-inch in a half-hour.
Another source of data is the Intellicast website that displayed two different rainfall maps
for the storm date. These maps are shown on the following page. in Figures 1.15 and
1.16. According to Figure 1.15, the Colorado Springs area received approximately 2 to 4
inches of total precipitation with the Jamestown area collecting I to 2 inches of total
rainfall. The weekly total for the same areas are in the range of2 to 4 inches according to
Figure 1.16.

According to data produced by the Community Collaborative Rain and Ilail Study,
(CoCo RaHS) which is a science education project managed by the Colorado Climate
Center at Colorado State University and driven by volunteer participants, the total rainfall
amount in the Jamestown area was 1.18 inches for June 27th. This reported rainfall
amount, and its location relative to the Town of Jamestown, is shown in Figure 1.17.

'CON~'_

~20/l1j

6
