Walcher <br />Executive Director, DNR <br /> <br />Peter H, Evans <br />Director, ewes <br /> <br />To: Don Morrison - Greenwood Village Council Member <br /> <br />Lev <br />From: Larry Lang -Colorado Water Conservation Board 1 <br /> <br />Date: May 20, 1999 <br /> <br />Re: May 21, 1999 Cherry Creek Dam Safety Investigation Meeting <br /> <br />Purpose of Meeting <br />The purpose ofthe meeting is to: <br />· Compile scientific issues/concerns that have been expressed during the Corp's public <br />meetings <br />· Collect historical information regarding past flood events in the region <br />· Gather the public's social and economic issues/concerns regarding Cherry Creek Dam <br />modifications and upstream reservoir proposals <br />· Express ideas for a procedure to inform and involve interested parties in the study <br />· Develop a list of candidates/representatives to serve on a technical review team and steering' <br />committee <br /> <br />Proposed Schedule of Meetings <br />· May 21, 1999 - the CWCB will conduct an informal round table discussion to obtain basic <br />data, local basin issues/concerns, and a proposal to develop a study process <br />· May 27, 1999 - The CWCB will meet with the Corps of Engineers to better understand their <br />existing and future study processes. The Corps will be briefed on the local-state issues and <br />concerns. A procedure will be agreed to for a mid-June meeting for the purpose of scripting <br />a hydrologic study proposal for a PMP and PMF evaluation for the Cherry Creek Basin. <br />· Mid-June Meeting - A meeting will be conducted for the purpose of having recognized <br />meteorological and climatological experts present information for the preparation of a Study <br />Proposal. The local technical review team and steering committee members will be invited <br />to the meeting. <br /> <br />Public Information <br />At our Friday meeting, I will ask for suggestions on means to keep interested parties informed on <br />study activities. These means may include: <br />· Basin newsletters <br />.
