This analysis will focus on potential recreation benefits that may arise from
reservoir development at alternative reservoir sites. Benefits from the develop-
ment of new flatwater recreation opponunities will be evaluated on the basis of
the availability of existing flatwater recreation sites, any unique recreational
qualities that might result from a new reservoir, and the degree to which current
and projected demand levels tan or cannot be accommodated by existing lakes
and reservoirs. Also, if sufficient data are available, the recreation analysts will
prepare a recreation demand model to provide empirical estimates of future
recreation use at each alternative reservoir site. Finally, the analysis will exam-
ine potential changes in downstream flows that might occur in the event of
reservoir development at each alternative site, and determine how those flow
changes could enhance river recreation activities, panicularly river boating!
-':c"Tloamg~~filnclong;:rmIg-; ,..
