..

'.

003191

reservoirs and combinations of reservoirs on instream flows In downstream
areas.

TASK 4.C--PROJECT ELEMENT YIELD ANALYSES

Purpose

The purpose of this task is to evaluate the capability of potential reservoir sites to meet
the identified municipal, industrial, and agricultural demand levels. The evaluations will
factor into the screening of potential project elements and combinations of reservoir
sites in Task 5.F.

Responsibility

LRCWE will be responsible for this task.

Approach

The project team will undertake the following activities:

1. Estimate evaporation and seepage losses using generalized curves prepared from
meteorological station records and regional geologic/soils maps for the Yampa
River basin.

2. Develop a computerized mass diagram approach to yield analysis for 10 poten-
tial reservoirs and 5 combinations of reservoirs in the study area.

3. At each of the 10 potential reservoir sites and 5 combinations of reservoirs,
calculate the storable flow estimates and using the municipal, industrial, and
agricultural demands, estimate the yields of the project elements. Curves of finD
yield versus various storable flow and reservoir capacity values will be generated.

4. Perform a yield analysis and generate a yield versus reservoir capacity curve for
the five project element combinations for which storable flow was determined.

5. Make and document a recommendation on the five individual reservoir sites and
three combination projects that appear to best meet the municipal, industrial,
and irrigation demands and have the least impact on the in stream flows. The
activity will be conducted jointly \\~th CH2M HILL and CH2M HILL will be
responsible for presenting these concepts to the TSC at the meeting identified in
Task 4.C.6.

6. Present findings to the TSC, resolve any differences in interpretation and finalize
a report to be submitted to CH2M HILL.

16

DENI800P/033.S1
