001894

e

-

Development of the data sheet and site screening methodology was based upon technical
issues related to biological, engineering and operational considerations. Non-technical
issues such as hatchery employment opportunities, potential spin-off economic
development benefits or tourism benefits were specifically not requested and were not
included in the scope of the feasibility study.

The general site selection criteria and screening factors were: water source, flow rate,
water quality, site physical characteristics, biological considerations, locationalfactors, and
the estimated cost range of the hatchery.

The initial screening methodology was originally to be based on applying a numerical
rating to each of the general site selection criteria factors described above, using the data
obtained from the data sheet and other sources. Due to incomplete or unavailable data,
it was determined that application of the numerical rating criteria for the task was not
feasible at this level of the study. Rather, each of the sites was objectively reviewed and
evaluated, based on the numerical rating of the site selection criteria. Using this
methodology, the original 33 sites were screened to 16, and are listed in Table 2.

TABLE2

STUDYSITE LISTFOLLOWINGfHEINITIAISCREENING

Site ID

Site Name and Location

1.
